With a top-5 finish at the Fortinet Championship, Justin Thomas is advancing for the Ryder Cup

In the two months since the Wyndham Championship, Thomas has gained a renewed sense of ownership of his game. He believed that he had lost responsibility. He became overly dependent on his team to solve any issues he encountered and was not as proactive in the changes as he would have liked. To get around that, Thomas played down how often his father, Mike, was involved. His father is still his swing coach, but Mike doesn’t travel to every tournament or watch every range session. It was a similar arrangement when Thomas played some of his best golf in 2017-18 while his father was still balancing his work as a PGA professional. He also divorced John Graham, his putting coach.
