VIBES! VIBES! VIBES! Tottenham Hotspur have a disappointing game against Sheffield United at home today. Despite dominating the game from the opening kick, Spurs could not find the back of the net in 90 minutes of open play and conceded a goal late in the second half from Gustavo Hamer’s header from a set piece.

So it’s good that the game lasted 110 minutes! Tottenham went 0-1 down in the 98th minute but scored two late goals afterwards – a header from Richarlison for his first league goal of the season and a 90+10′ winner from Dejan Kulusevski to send off what was a sorely disappointed Tottenham home crowd. to the raptures. Tottenham made a game where they got the football to another great victory, their best start in the top flight since 1965. The final score — 2-1.

Ange Postecoglou had great success against a recently promoted team two weeks ago when they ran out a big win against Burnley, and Big Ange opted for the same starting XI today against another promoted side Sheffield United. Brennan Johnson and Richarlison started on the bench.

Reaction:

  • A lot of guys on both sides of the ball slipped on the grass early. Are they overwatering the pitch?
  • The opening 20 minutes Spurs looked slow, but the boy quickly changed. United were well organized in defense while Spurs had the ball, causing frustration in the buildup play at the start, but Spurs continued to turn the screws. United keeper Foderingham had five saves in the first half hour.
  • GREAT rescue from Googly Elmo a little earlier. Sheffield United didn’t have a ton of offense but they managed a couple of dangerous chances in the first half.
  • It was a stone cold penalty against Maddison in the box, he was caught on the back heel. I have no idea how the VAR cleared it. This is also a second Basham yellow. That’s ridiculously irrefutable.
  • Foderingham’s yellow card for handling outside his box was almost a red, but I think the official felt it was unintentional as he was close to the line. Still, big mistake and Spurs almost capitalized.
  • 12 shots in the first half. Spurs deserved a goal.
  • Sheffield United’s time-wasting was at an elite level in this game. Foderingham should have got a yellow, especially after his “injury” in the second half, which should have been his second. In truth, Foderingham just showed a daring way to get away with killing the area because no England official would have the courage to send a keeper off with a second yellow for time wasting.
  • Look, I can’t really blame the ref kind of guy (and it worked in the end) but this official is absolute GARBAGE. He lost control of it early in the second half and made some confusing and sometimes strange calls. Half the time I had no idea what was going on or why a card was shown or a call was made. There were at least three penalty shouts that weren’t called because … reasons? Man, I don’t know. This is bad.
  • Ange’s triple sub was guaranteed, but I wanted it ten minutes earlier.
  • Tom Davies should be out for Pedro Porro’s horrific scissor tackle. Terrible tackle, Pedro could have been seriously injured.
  • Tottenham are certainly relying on the athleticism of Micky van de Ven and Cuti Romero to snuff out chances, which I guess is the point? If you push all the way forward you need athletes at the back to prevent counters. I don’t think they are Micky and Cuti
  • Johnson’s call-back goal was pretty cool, let’s say. But he is offside. Early returns on Johnson from me are: good skills, very fast, but his movement on the ball is a bit close. Hopefully that will come in time.
  • SO HAPPY TO RICHY! He desperately needed that goal after the last two weeks, the admission that he struggled with mental health, and the time he had, and it was nothing less than he deserved. Hell of a header. Also picked up an assist for Deki’s winner – this is the kind of game where he should excel.
  • It seems like 9 times out of ten Spurs lose that game. Last season, we were DEFINITELY going to lose that game. This is the kind of late scoring that feels like Arsenal and Liverpool do all the time, but we never do, except now we do it because Postecoglou is magic and this team is all good vibes.
  • Apparently that is the most recent winning comeback in Premier League history. Damn.
  • Next week — the North London Derby. That might tell us more about this team than anything we’ve seen in the first five games.
