After weeks and weeks of efforts, Barcelona have finally reached an agreement for the departure of out-of-favour defender Clement Lenglet.
The Frenchman has been at the club since 2018 but has fallen out of favor in recent years and was loaned out to Tottenham last season.
Since returning, it has been made clear that Lenglet has no part in Xavi’s plans and efforts are being made to get him fired.
And, earlier today, Barça finally achieved a breakthrough as they and Word Villa reached an agreement on a long lease deal of the season.
Increasing Fair Play for Barcelona
Because Lenglet was not in the manager’s plans and the high wages he commanded, the Blaugrana very excited to get him in the books.
In fact, the La Liga champions would prefer to see him leave permanently for a fee. But even a loan exit would help the club in terms of Financial Fair Play.
According to reports, Barcelona will only pay 25% of his wages for this season, with Villa covering the remaining 75%.
As such, his exit is set to generate a Fair Play margin of â¬7.9 million, reports said Gerard Romero.
Lenglet’s registration in La Liga before he was loaned out ensures that the Catalans will benefit on the Fair Play front and his departure is expected to generate around â¬8 million in margin.
This will help Barça complete the registration of players such as Inigo Martinez and Inaki Pena, although they will need more space to accommodate the signing of Joao Cancelo.
