Journalist Noah Robson claims Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo left Stamford Bridge in pain last night.
she taken on Twitter to state that the 21-year-old was holding his knee as the match drew to a close last night.
It was a welcome sight for Chelsea fans to see a game end with their team on the winning side.
Nicolas Jackson scored the only goal of the game as the Blues progressed to the next round of the EFL Cup.
They beat a very strong Brighton side, with Roberto de Zerbi naming the best side possible from his deep squad.
However, it was Chelsea who booked their place in the next round, with some excellent individual displays.
Cole Palmer in particular had a strong outing, with this being his first start in the royal Blue shirt.
Caicedo left in pain
His presence allows Enzo Fernandez to get a good rest, but it will surely also encourage more starts in the number 10 role.
With Fernandez rested, Pochettino looked to a midfield pair of Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu, who proved to be a very useful figure at Stamford Bridge following his summer signing.
It’s not all good news though. Robson admitted that the Ecuador midfielder was seen clutching his knee in the latter stages.
He said: “Moises Caicedo is now holding his knee.”
Injuries have threatened to plague the club-record signing since he joined, which hasn’t been a problem in his career so far.
Supporters are hoping it’s not a serious issue and he could be part of the side to face Fulham on Monday night.
