As Steph Curry begins his 15th season in the NBA, one can only wonder how long the Warriors superstar plans to play in the league.
In his recent appearance at “Gils Arena” podcast.Curry was asked what his ideal timeline would be and if his projected career length would be similar to that of LeBron James, who is about to enter his 21st year.St NBA season.
“It’s somewhere in that range, but I never imagined myself as a forty plus guy trying to hold on for dear life”, said Curry. âBut who knows what my body will look like or feel like at that point? I have three years left on my deal, including at least that, and then kind of figure it out from there.
“I’m blessed to know and hope that no matter how many years I play, play for a franchise and be part of a group of legends that achieve that feat and win at the highest level and all that. I don’t take that for granted either. You got Kobe [Bryant]nor, the Magic [Johnson]that, Dirk [Nowitzki]Tim Duncan, those guys helped establish a culture, winning, doing it with a lot of different roster combinations and different parts of their career.
“I haven’t put much of a timeline out of my contract right now just knowing I’m going to give 38 and 17 years to the league. I haven’t skipped playing golf yet.”
Curry’s stated desire to remain a Warrior for the duration of his career echoes what he told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole in an exclusive interview last month.
While the exact timeframe of Curry’s remaining years in the league remains a mystery, it doesn’t appear that the most plausible outcome puts him in the limelight of superstar players who spend their entire careers with one franchise.
When that day inevitably comes, Curry will cement his place as the greatest athlete in Bay Area sports history.
