Serena Williams, 41, seems to be back to work in the gym after giving birth and it’s “super weird” for the American to exercise “without a goal or a championship in mind.” Williams, a former 23-time Grand Slam champion, ended her pro tennis career after the 2022 US Open.

After announcing her pregnancy in May, Williams gave birth to her second child in August. “I’m not used to work without a goal or to be honest – no championship in my mind. This is super weird,” Williams wrote in X.

Williams is ‘thinking’ about a return

In the months following the 2022 US Open, some are not entirely convinced that Williams is truly retiring. In February, Williams admitted that he was definitely considering a comeback.

But also in February, Williams said that at that time he was more comfortable with his decision to retire. “I definitely feel more at peace now. It’s interesting. I think I feel torn because I can still play at a very high level.

With that said, I always want to leave the game playing at a very high level. I also want to walk when I am healthy and have quality of life. But inch by inch leaning, inch by inch embracing it. I played a while ago when I first retired because it’s hard to do cold turkey.

But lately, I haven’t played much. And I miss it. I said, ‘Oh my goodness. I gotta get out there’ But it’s hard for me to get out there. I played the other day, and it was like, ‘There’s no way I’m not going to play professional tennis’

Like, literally no excuse. But I mean, I have an excuse, right? It’s hard because when I play I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m really good at this. I can continue to do this,’ which not a lot of people can say,” Williams told E! in February.
