Fresh from a flurry of winners, our tipster Jones Knows is aiming for the Premier League card and thinks Brighton can scupper Newcastle.
Liverpool vs Aston Villa, Sunday 2pm
It was the second time for Aston Villa to deliver on many of the pre-season expectations that went up in smoke with their 5-1 opening day defeat at Newcastle. That result could prove to be a huge outlier in what is shaping up to be an exciting season for Unai Emery and his boys.
Despite Liverpool’s potential season-lift-off result at Newcastle, I’m still unsure of their position as a top-four ranked side. This is a defense that remains unconvinced without a midfield structure that looks secure. Villa can certainly make a bit of noise at Anfield.
They tempt me with a double chance at 5/4 with Sky Bet but my eyes are drawn to the entire goals market where the goal expectation seems too high for this clash.
Aston Villa are a far superior team under Emery on the road, where they sit much deeper than their unusually aggressive long-line home games and the pressure is greater. Eleven of their 13 road games have fallen below the 3.5 goal line, including this fixture which ended 1-1 towards the end of last season. This makes 8/11 with Sky Bet for under 3.5 goals look like a solid starting point for a bet.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
Crystal Palace v Wolves, Super Sunday, 2pm, live on Sky Sports – SUPER 6 WILL BE PLAYING HERE!
Eberechi Eze has bought many tickets but has not won a raffle this season. His time will come though, as he continues to post the same level of attacking statistics, a glut of goals is on the way as is his quality in front of goal. Eze has fired 16 shots this season, the joint-most of any player in the Premier League alongside Erling Haaland but, unlike the City striker, Eze is yet to score.
Eze was Palace’s top scorer last season with 10 Premier League goals and his form since Roy Hodgson took charge suggests he could surpass those numbers this campaign – but he needs to keep going . Unfortunately for our bank balances, the markets have agreed with Eze’s scoring potential despite his drawing a blank so far. He is 5/1 with Sky Bet to open the scoring and just 2/1 to score at any time – prices that don’t exactly soak up the value – but now may be the time to snap him up.
SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1
Arsenal vs Manchester United, Super Sunday, 4.30pm, live on Sky Sports – SUPER 6 WILL BE PLAYING HERE!
The case for the goals of what should be a pulsating Super Sunday The battle is an easy one to make but sometimes the most useful and successful angles are the obvious angles. In their last 21 home matches in the Premier League, the total average goal output in Arsenal matches stood at a whopping 4.11 with 15 of the matches seeing both teams score and the over 2.5 goals line excelled, including two fixtures this season.
We can return the angle of the two teams scoring more than 2.5 at 4/5 with Sky Bet here which means a 55 percent probability.
When factoring in the raw numbers but also adding a bit of cleverness to the equation in terms of the problems Marcus Rashford will cause Arsenal on the counter-attack – he has scored or assisted four of United’s five goals against Arsenal last season – I want to have that percentage closer to 65 percent, meaning we have a healthy amount of games there.
SCORE PREDICTION: 3-1
