Mauricio Pochettino spoke directly to the ‘incredible’ player, so he wants to join Chelsea

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia wants to join Chelsea after talks with Mauricio Pochettino.

So says respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Report to his SubstackPhillips explained that a big reason why Romeo Lavia decided to join Chelsea instead of Liverpool was the chat he had with Mauricio Pochettino.

Apparently, the Blues head coach is very keen on the club’s transfer deals this summer and wants to talk to targets to help convince them to come to Stamford Bridge.

All the noise coming out about Pochettino in the early months of his reign makes us think that the club has got this appointment in place.

While much work has gone into what happens off the pitch, Chelsea also kicked off their campaign at the weekend with a 1-1 home draw against Liverpool.

We really liked what we saw of the Blues on Sunday. The addition of Moises Caicedo, and the imminent arrival of Lavia, further strengthens the team.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports on his YouTube channel that Lavia will have his Chelsea medical on Wednesday before the transfer is completed.

Let’s hope he is ready to make his debut this weekend when the team travel to West Ham in the Premier League.

Described as “unbelievable” by Pep Guardiola (Official website of Manchester City), Lavia is a highly-rated defensive midfielder who adds quality and excitement to this young squad.

The 19-year-old Belgian impressed in his first year of Premier League football last season in Southampton colours.

He is quick, aggressive and covers a lot of ground from the center of the park as an all-action midfielder.
