Onana set the ambition of the Champions League

In an interview with MUTV ahead of tonight’s clash with Bayern, Onana believes the current United squad will be better than his Inter team that reached last season’s final.

He explained:

Champions League, I know the competition. I played in the final a few months ago so we don’t have a limit. We must dream big. We have to dream big and it’s not just about talking, it’s time to deliver, to show on the pitch. This season didn’t start how we wanted but I think in the end it’s better. When I see my teammates and the quality we have, I’m very confident and I know that [if] we continue to work how we work, at the end of this season I think we will all be dancing.

OPINION – United need to change their Champions League approach to be taken seriously

A year ago this week United were in Chisinau. Nothing illustrates the difference between the Europa League and the Champions League more than the exchange of Moldova in Munich.

United are back in the big time and the trip to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern is a heavyweight fixture in Europe’s A-list competition, although it is in a group stage where both need to improve. in the knockout rounds.

This is the kind of stage where United belong but they haven’t taken the curtain call often enough in recent times. This is only their sixth Champions League campaign in 10 seasons and before the start of this year’s competition they are already worried about their involvement next year.

Cole called on United to play without fear

Ahead of tonight’s clash with Bayern, former striker Andy Cole believes the Reds can go to the Allianz Arena without the pressure.

He explained to Betfred:

You always go into a game optimistic. They are away at home against Bayern Munich who have started okay this season, despite the draw on Friday night, and United will have to go there believing they can cause them problems. I don’t think anyone expected them to go there and win, but anything is possible in football. United can go there without the pressure to win, because nobody wants them to, and will be looking to get Bayern back. If they do that, then all the talk about their defeats to Tottenham, Arsenal and Brighton will be in the bin and they can try and start again. They have to believe they can go there and win, it’s that simple.
