Bayern Munich vs VfL Bochum: GOOOOOAL! Tel scores AGAIN! 6-0!

81′ — EXCELLENT! Mathys Tel makes it 6-0! Another assist by Kane!

65′ — Subs: Tel and Kratzig are available for Choupo and Davies.

54′ — EXCELLENT! Harry Kane converted from the spot, 5-0.

45′ — Sub: Upamecano is for De Ligt, but why?

Halftime observation and analysis

  • All fans, rejoice. Bayern Munich is finally cooking the Tuchel era. It took a while, but it formed his first big victory in managing the record champions.
  • Harry Kane played as #10 to Choupo’s #9 and it really worked. Bad news for Musiala and Muller – Tuchel may decide he prefers this two striker system to a traditional 4-2-3-1.
  • Leroy Sane is finally playing like the player he was bought for. AT LAST.
  • Bochum are very good friends. They shut down BVB and then got rolled and stomped by Bayern every season. Let’s hope they don’t get relegated.
  • Noussair Mazraoui is relatively quiet compared to Alphonso Davies – he could stand to do a bit more.

halftime: Bayern Munich 4-0 VfL Bochum.

38′ — GOOOOOOOAL! Sane made it 4-0, but Kane deserves all the credit for the fantastic assist.

28′ — GOOOOOOOOOL! Matthijs de Ligt scores from a corner!

12′ — GREAT! Harry Kane makes it 2-0!

4′ — GOOOOOOOAL! Choupo-Moting makes it 1-0!

kickoff: We continue!

One hour until kick off: Well this is an unexpected way to line up. Bayern Munich will start with TWO strikers up top with Harry Kane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting starting up top. Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt are both starting rotation interests.

It’s unusual for Bayern Munich not to be in 1st place heading into matchday 5 in the Bundesliga, but this year hasn’t been smooth sailing so far. After a tough encounter against Bayer Leverkusen last week (and especially challenging against Manchester United on Wednesday) the German record champions return to their home turf to host VfL Bochum – a team that has already taken points from Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

Thomas Tuchel will have to balance results against its rotation, especially if he wants to keep his team happy. There are already reports that the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are unhappy with their playing time, and the fanbase continues to ask questions about Thomas Müller. It won’t be a big deal as long as the wins continue, but unconvincing performances will still cast doubt on Tuchel’s long-term ability to lead his team to trophies.

It’s time for Bayern.
