In just three years at FC Barcelona, ââPedri became one of the most important players for the club.
The 2021 Golden Boy Award winner has become an integral part of Xavi Hernandez’s setup, with the manager himself admitting that the team is different without the 20-year-old midfield prodigy.
However, in his young career, Pedri gained a reputation for being injury prone, spending a lot of time on treatment tables.
Anxiety is growing in Barcelona
According to the reporter Javi MiguelBarcelona began to grow very worried about Pedri’s repeated injury problems in the past two seasons.
After appearing in more than 70 games for club and country during his first season at Barça, the midfielder suffered a series of injuries.
During the 2021/22 campaign, the 20-year-old was sidelined for more than three months with a torn hamstring.
Last season, he missed nearly three months with a muscle injury, and the same issue kept him out of action at the start of the new campaign.
In total, Pedri had six muscle injuries in less than 60 games.
And, it’s only natural for Barcelona to have concerns about the midfield sensation, especially considering how important he is to the team.
Barcelona are trying to shake off injury issues
As such, the report adds that Barcelona are making a point to get to the bottom of Pedri’s injury issues and deal with them once and for all.
To begin with, manager Xavi himself met with the young midfielder to find out more about his feelings and the reasons why he could not escape from these injuries.
Club doctors also take steps, creating a special work and prevention plan, along with a very strict diet for the 20-year-old.
The player himself also realized that he had to find a way to stop this test in order to have a long and successful career.
Since these injuries occurred without a blow or bruise involved, Barcelona also looked at other multidisciplinary factors in the player’s life that could affect his condition.
The La Liga champions want to get to the heart of the matter, to control all possible factors. The priority is to end once and for all this avalanche of muscle injuries.
