Welcome to The Dirt! I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the bull market.
Last week was all about the light-speed development of downtown West Palm Beach and the continued engulfment of the Agricultural Reserve. This tour, the construction of the Ag Reserve has a pickleball promise. Seriously, pickleball. In the Ag Reserve. Oh, and a fitness center and microbrewery.
Because after 30 minutes on the treadmill a nice microbrew sounds very appealing. 🤢 However, it’s good for happy hour when you’re around BFE in the west Boynton Beach Boulevard corridor.
Also, if you’ve been walking around Times Square recently, you may have noticed a number of electronic billboards that say “Wall Street South”. Signs promoting Palm Beach County didn’t pick West Palm Beach for the moniker, but judging by the amount of new Class A office space, including some high-profile new downtown tenants , it seems to fit the bill.
And if billboards, top finance firm relocations and pickleball galore don’t convince you of the nickname’s authenticity, Tiger Woods might.
Tiger Woods-backed putt-putt course planned and not your grandpa’s mini-golf
The Drive Shack at Palm Beach International Airport will soon have some competition with a state-of-the-art mini-golf entertainment complex sponsored by Tiger Woods. I’ve never been to PopStroke but it’s like a Chuck E. Cheese for adults with a rooftop pool, a full restaurant and a mobile drink delivery app.
For challenged by the app (toast anyone?)several bars will also be sprinkled throughout the venue, including one centered in the middle of the golf area.
Pity the Palm Beach home buyer, there aren’t many options
The long Labor Day weekend means barbecues on the beach, furniture sales, ripping off current rescues and the return of rich people looking to shop on the island.
Alas, the inventory of multi-million dollar homes in Palm Beach is slowing, writes luxury real estate reporter Darrell Hofheinz. Only 52 single-family properties are listed on the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service. There are definitely some lists in the pocket. Palm Beach loves its hidden sales.
Class A office space in West Palm Beach is still in high demand among Northeast companies and locals.
Related Cos. isn’t the only one in New York that hires top financial firms. A new office building at 300 Banyan in downtown West Palm Beach by Wheelock Street Capital and Brand Atlantic Real Estate Partners has signed a deal with its first major tenant – Alvarez & Marsal Capital of Greenwich, Connecticut.
Stephen Ross, the chairman of Related and the owner of the Miami Dolphins football team, recently compared West Palm Beach to Greenwich (only warmer). Perhaps “Greenwich South” should be added as an alternative to “Wall Street South.”
16 indoor pickleball courts! Warehouses! And wine storage!
The District, to be built near the intersection of Acme Dairy Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard, was praised by nearby residents at a county commission meeting who said they deserve more than a Starbucks and a Chipotle. Aren’t we all? In fact, the new complex that will be built on about 47 hectares is the same hell heaven on Earth with 16 indoor pickleball courts, a storage area for fine wines, a gym and a microbrewery.
Why would anyone ever venture east of I-95 again?
Live lightly.
