Famous TV personality Piers Morgan recently expressed his opinion about Emma Raducanu appearing in a ‘wake’ advert for HSBC bank, and accused the British star of virtue signalling.
Raducanu features in a new advert on women’s empowerment by HSBC Bank, where the origin stories of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel are recreated to make them look like successful entrepreneurs without it will take a man to save them.
“So in the end, princesses don’t need a prince to save them. They build their own businesses, save their money and spend it wisely,” said Raducanu in the ad.
This drew harsh criticism from Morgan, who pointed out that Raducanu’s father and all five of his career coaches were men. In addition, the TV host sarcastically noted that Raducanu’s agent, Max Eisenbud and the entire leadership team of HSBC’s board of directors are also men.
“Of course, we all know, the best way to advance women’s dreams is to dump men,” Morgan said. “Like Emma said, women don’t need men. She never needed men to get to where she is now…
“Then there is his agent Max Eisenbud who is very good at maximizing his income… despite the fact that he is human. And then in a final twist to this tale of virtue that marks betrayal , it turns out that the chairman, chief executive and chief financial officer of HSBC’s board of directors are also men.”
