For years, Milwaukee Bucks fans have urged Giannis Antetokounmpo to work out with NBA Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon. Well, that day may finally be here.
In an episode of the 48 Minutes podcast, Antetokounmpo revealed that he plans to travel to Houston to exercise with Olajuwon before the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season. As expected, fans were very excited to hear the news, and rightly so. Antetokounmpo has previously been paired with greats like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett, and Olajuwon can now be added to the list.
Giannis Antetokounmpo plans to work out in the NBA soon
Despite being one of the best players in the game today, Antetokounmpo could definitely learn a thing or two from Olajuwon. The latter was a dominant force throughout his 18-year career, as the big man won two titles and countless other awards. Known for his post moves and footwork, the center was truly something to behold back in the day.
Antetokounmpo will try to pick up some knowledge from Olajuwon and hopefully add some more offensive moves to his arsenal heading into next season. The Greek Freak is already a dominant force in the paint, but this work with Olajuwon will only help him take his game to new heights. These are very exciting times.
It’s rare when Antetokounmpo works out with other players. As he stated in the podcast, he still doesn’t like to work out with active players, because he believes that he loses some of his edge when he faces them. He won’t be going up against Olajuwon anytime soon, so it’s good that he’s finally willing to take some lessons from him.
After a knee-jerk procedure many months ago, the two-time MVP and champion always in the gym this summer as he prepares for the new season ahead, no doubt seeking revenge for last season’s disaster. Losing to the eighth seed in the first round probably lit a huge fire under Antetokounmpo, who spent most of the series hurt.
Giannis is hungry to get back on track, and hopefully the entire roster will adopt the same mindset heading into 2023-24.
