Jordan Poole will return to the Chase Center this winter, but he won’t be wearing a Warriors uniform.
For the first time since being traded by the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster that shocked the NBA world, the young guard will return to the Bay on December 22 in the Wizards’ only visit to San Francisco in the 2023-24 season, The Ang Athletic Anthony Slater reported on Wednesday.
With a “win-now” mentality, the Warriors sent Poole, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Ryan Rollins and future draft picks to Washington in exchange for veteran point guard Chris Paul.
Poole’s teammates on the Warriors sent him a sentimental farewell and wished him well, from Klay Thompson expecting All-Star potential for the 24-year-old to Steph Curry and Thompson continuing to work with their little one that Splash Bro this summer.
An ex-teammate might not welcome Poole back with open arms.
When Draymond Green punched Poole during a preseason practice in October, the team’s chemistry was too broken to be mended for the rest of the 2022-23 season. Although the two seem to have scrapped their beef, the fire continues to fuel the flame between the two – even now on different teams.
But fans will have to wait and see if both players are in the holiday spirit when they face off again.
